Welcome to a special edition of Versus. My writing partner, Matticus, has issued a challenge to the blog-o-sphere. He wants us all to take sides in the DC vs. Marvel debate. I have already given my answer to this topic on a couple of different occasions on this blog, but I will do so again for his benefit.
Also, be sure to stop by the Kingdom to view his challenge (along with all of the other awesomeness he has going on over there.
While there are many good things about DC comics, I have to go with Marvel. I do this for a number of reasons.
- Marvel characters are more relatable. I don’t know what it’s like to be an alien with godlike powers (Superman), or a billionaire that experienced tragedy (Batman). I do, however, know what it’s like to be a picked on teenager (Spiderman).
- DC has way too many alternate universes. I know Marvel has some alternate universes, and different versions of the future, but not nearly to the extent that DC does. It seems like every other story in DC has something to do with alternate universes.
- Finally, for whatever the reason is, I just couldn’t get into many DC books. In truth, the only DC book that I liked enough to read on a regular basis was Nightwing. I think the only reason I like him so much is that he is a character I can relate to. Maybe it’s just a combination of my first two reasons, but I just never got that interested in any of the other DC books.
Well, there you have it, folks. I’m a Marvel guy. I hope this helps add to the debate over in the Kingdom. Let the war continue!!!!!!!!!!!
Your Marvel support has been noted by the official tally taker. And, Go Team Marvel!!
It does seem that the Marvel characters are more relatable. Though, there are still some that are a bit out there… Tony Stark, Bruce Banner… Geniuses, with minds and (specifically Stark) resources above and beyond anything we would ever know. As a whole though, I completely agree.
You may not be able to relate to Banner’s genius, but you’d be able to relate to not wanting to let your ‘dark side’ out. And Tony battled alcohol addiction for a while. So, even if you can’t relate to certain parts of them, there are still others that you can.
See, that’s how flimsy my argument was. It took you zero time to dismantle it. Which makes sense, because, Go Team Marvel!
Damn. I just thought of the ultimate reason that Marvel is superior to DC…..
Aquaman.
Nuff said.
One of the posts from last week talked about how her son thought spongebob was a better character than aquaman… and that alone meant the prize should go to Marvel.
Yeah, Jeff Dunham even did a joke about how SpongeBob had the same powers as Aquaman.
I think I remember that! Hilarious.
I’m trying to think of some sort of sports rally cry. Olé. Olé, olé, olé.
Go team Marvel!
I’m all for sounding like the kicker from The Replacements.
Go team Marvel!

My dinosaur friend, even though you aren’t backing team Marvel, you are still more than welcome here.
What war? It’s obvious who’s going to win. The other side should cut its losses and call off the whole thing.
The Matticus Kingdom Tug-of-War. Did you not click on the link I put up there?
No, but that’s because I knew of it beforehand.
What I meant to say was that since the outcome is foreseen, it’s less of a tug-o-war and more like a drag-the-other-team.
Dragging the non-believers is fun too.
Hmm. Good point.
Definitely Team Marvel! where’d I leave them pompoms, hm…
Thanks for the support. Go Team Marvel!
Team Marvel all the way! I think we’ll win since we have royal backing. Though the other side does have a dinosaur…
Still, Marvel’s the clear winner!
I’d be more afraid if the dinosaur wasn’t so cuddly.
We’ll agree to disagree, but nice to see some love for Nightwing.
Nightwing is awesome. I’d love to see him get his own movie or TV show….or something.
I like both companies equally, but nice work for marvel, True Believer!
I don’t dislike DC. I just like Marvel a lot better.
