Catching Up on my Movies

I’m way behind in my movie watching. Between work, fixing up my house, spending time with my girls, and writing, I don’t get a whole lot of movie watching time. I’m also way behind on my TV watching too. I haven’t finished the second season of any of the non-Daredevil Marvel Netflix shows. But, since movies are a lot quicker to watch than seasons full of shows, I figured I’d get some of them out of the way first. Here’s my overall opinions on them.

Needless to say, there will be spoilers here (although, I doubt there are too many people as behind in their movie watching as I am)

Solo: A Star Wars Story:

I heard nothing but bad things about this movie before it released (which is one reason why I waited so long to watch it), but I didn’t think it was that bad. Personally, I didn’t have a problem with it until the very end when it’s revealed that the crimelord they’re running from is Darth Maul. His survival irritates me to no end. Granted, it was the Clone Wars cartoon that brought him back from death, not this movie, but I still think it would’ve been better if they just left him dead.

Black Panther:

Yes, I realize that I’m probably the last person on the planet to see this movie, but Mrs. Revis likes to watch the Marvel movies with me and we have almost no time to watch movies together.

Overall, it was a good movie. I don’t think it was as good as the hype made it out to be, but it was still a good movie. Out of all the Marvel movies, I’d put it somewhere towards the middle of the pack.

This one kind of surprised me. I wasn’t expecting much from this one, but it was the most entertaining of the three, in my opinion. They did a good job of retooling his origin to not include Spiderman and they set it up nicely for a sequel. I think it did fairly well at the box office (I’m too lazy to actually look it up), so I would think that they would at least be open to doing Venom 2.

I still need to see all three of these!!
I too suffer from a lack of movie watching time. So it goes.
