My wife had a prenatal visit this morning and it scared the hell out of us. The part where we talked to the doctor wasn’t bad, it was what happened while we were waiting for the doctor to come into the room that scared us.
We got pulled back fairly quickly. The nurse talked to us for a few minutes, took my wife’s blood pressure, and left the room. We were sitting there for only a few minutes when we heard what, to me, sounded like the nurse (my wife says it was the doctor), say, “Ron, break those down and bring them to me later.”
Ok, fine. It sounded like normal work talk….. until Ron responded with, “Bend over.” Umm….What??? Did I just hear that right? I looked over at my wife and she had a creeped out/confused look on her face, so I knew I wasn’t the only one who heard it.
The nurse (or doctor) started laughing and said, “Oh, Ron. I love you.”
Gross. If you’re going to sexually harass someone, shouldn’t it at least be someone who isn’t an ugly, old nurse or a doctor who has an ass that’s as wide as a Mini Cooper?
After hearing that, neither my wife, or I, knew what to say. So, we sat in silence for a minute. Then, I tried to break it by making a joke. I said, “Something tells me that Ron is responsible for half of this doctor’s office’s business.” Not my best joke, but it was better than awkward silence.
Soon, the doctor came in and we were saved by the sound of our baby’s heartbeat. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard.
